"Very sharp from f2.8 to f16, fast and quiet focus"

"Better sharpness than expected, contrast is bright, background is smooth."

"The manual for this lens says the min focusing distance from subject is 8", but I got within an inch or two from the subject to take this picture. I'm really impressed with the images I getting with this lens, hand-held, on a tri-pod, up-close & far away. It's my new favorite lens. Btw, camera is a D300."

"AF by SWM is extremely fast and manufactured quality of plastics barrel is good.
The image quality is extremely sharpest between closest 1:1 and 3 meters.
However, there is a bit of dissatisfaction when this lens is used at infinity. Though this lens has some modern technologies of the ED glass, aspherical lenses, and the floating mechanism, etc, the sharpness is the same as traditional 55mm Micro-Nikkor at infinity.
The sharpness is inferior to AF 50/1.4D only just a little at infinity. And the detailed gradation in the dark shadow tone will be missing.
The working distance of this lens is too short for a real macro. I also had an expectation for landscapes or portraits as well as a lot of
users. I have slightly hesitation for landscape at infinite distance.
I recommend new 50/1.4G for landscapes or portraits, and Micro-Nikkor 105mm F2.8D or G for real macro."
