Leica MACRO-ELMAR-M Macro lens-90mm-F/4.0-Leica M is the latest addition in the popular short telephoto lens range, and when combined with the dedicated Macro Adapter (made specifically for this lens) has a reproduction ratio of 1:3.

Weighing under one lb, and only 1.6" (41mm) when collapsed, the MACRO-ELMAR-M 90mm f/4 is first choice whenever you wish to limit your outfit to a minimum without forfeiting the maximum in image quality.
A high performance lens, ideal for portraits, travel or photojournalism.
The MACRO-ADAPTER-M was specifically developed as an accessory for the 90mm f/4 Macro lens. It allows close focusing with this lens from 2.5" (0.77 m) (reproduction ratio 1:6.7) down to 1.6" (0.5 m) (reproduction ratio 1:3).
This lens has been updated with the "6-bit" coding, which allows the digital M camera to read this information optically and to identify which lens is being used. The camera can then (optionally) apply a "final stage" software based vignetting correction (for RAW images the lens used is simply recorded, no change is made).
• Includes "6-bit code" which allows the digital M8 camera to identify which lens is being used, and also to store this information in image metadata
• Very compact and lightweight

"I recently got the lens on my lieca m8. I have to tell you, before that I was taking good pictures, but ever since my new toy, the pictures have got a lot better. I mean the quality and the texture of the pictures have changed so much that my friends and family have noticed. I have got so much complements from my recent pictures thanks to my new Macro.
I usually use my lens for family pics, pictures of nature in closeups and so on..
Now I always thought a macro should get you closer to your objective, but for me this is the only drawback. I just need a little bit more. Maybe if I could take a picture of a bug real close or a beautiful flower or a bee on a plant or flower real close, closer that what is now which is very good, that would have been excellent.
Last I have to say overall I love my new lens 90mm f/4-M (SILVER) MACRO ELMAR 6-BIT and i give it 5stars.
If you have the money, do yourself a favor and give yourself an early Christmas gift and have some fun.

Now I always thought a macro should get you closer to your objective, but for me this is the only drawback. I just need a little bit more. Maybe if I could take a picture of a bug real close or a beautiful flower or a bee on a plant or flower real close, closer that what is now which is very good, that would have been excellent.
